Legal
Privacy Policy
How we handle the information you send us through this website, under the Privacy Act 2020 of New Zealand.
This document is an informational template prepared for this website. It is not legal advice and it should be reviewed by a lawyer qualified in New Zealand before you rely on it.
1. Who is responsible for your information
The agency responsible for the personal information collected through joltcrest.com is Jolt Crest, 14 Yewlett Crescent, Frankton, Queenstown 9300, New Zealand. You can reach us at [email protected] or +64 344 220 99 for anything in this document.
2. What we collect
- Enquiry form: your name, company if you give one, email address, phone number if you give one, the format you are interested in, the event date, the town or venue, the number of guests, an optional budget figure, and whatever you write in the details field. We also record the two confirmations you tick about the age limit and about how the activities work.
- Correspondence: emails, phone notes and documents exchanged while we plan an event, including the agreement and payment records if we go that far.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser user-agent, the pages requested and the time of the request, held in server logs. Cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
We do not ask for, and we ask you not to send, information about health, beliefs, or any other sensitive matter. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 20+ through this site.
3. Why we collect it, and on what basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare an event: checking availability, quoting, agreeing the package and running the event. Without this information we cannot reply to you.
- Our legitimate business interests: keeping a record of enquiries, protecting the website against abuse of the form, and keeping evidence of what was agreed.
- Your consent: analytics and marketing cookies, and the optional marketing emails checkbox on the form. You can withdraw either at any time, and withdrawing does not affect anything done before you withdrew.
- Legal obligations: tax and accounting records once an agreement is in place.
The age and activity confirmations on the form are collected because our evening programmes are 20+ only and because we need a record that you were told the chips are props with no stake and no prize of value.
4. Who receives it
- Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its logs.
- Our email provider, which carries the enquiry to us and our reply to you.
- Google, as our advertising and measurement provider - but only if you consent to analytics or marketing cookies. Nothing is sent to Google before that.
- Subcontracted crew where an event requires it, limited to what they need to do the job: the venue, the date, the timings and a contact name on site.
- Our accountant, and public authorities where the law requires disclosure.
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is protected by comparable safeguards, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires for disclosure to an overseas recipient. We do not sell personal information.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to an agreement: up to 12 months, so we can follow up on a date you asked about, and then deleted.
- Agreements and event documentation: for 7 years, which is the period New Zealand tax law requires business records to be kept.
- Your cookie choice: 180 days, which is the lifetime of the cookie that records it.
- Server logs: up to 12 months.
- Marketing consent: until you withdraw it, plus a record of the withdrawal.
6. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us whether we hold personal information about you, to ask for access to it, and to ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need, object to a particular use, withdraw a consent you gave, and ask for a copy of what you sent us.
Write to [email protected] and we will answer within 20 working days. If you are not satisfied with how we handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: https://www.privacy.org.nz/.
7. Cookies and measurement
Necessary cookies keep the session and protect the enquiry form. Analytics and marketing cookies are
set only after you consent, and we use Google Consent Mode v2, so
ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data and
ad_personalization all start as denied and are updated only by your choice.
The full list of files, their purposes and their lifetimes is in our
Cookie Policy, and you can change your decision at
any time with .
8. Google and advertising personalisation
If you consent to marketing cookies, Google may process data as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the Google Business Data Responsibility and Privacy material. You can manage personalised advertising in your own Google account settings.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. The enquiry form is protected by a token that prevents submissions from other sites, by a hidden field that filters automated traffic and by length limits on every input. Enquiries are written to a log stored outside the public web folder and emailed to our own address. Access to that log and to our mailbox is limited to people who need it to answer you.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Where a change is significant we will say so on the page rather than only in the version date.
