How the casino-style formats work
Themed entertainment. Not gambling.
This matters enough to say plainly, in one place, rather than in small print.
- Everything happens offline, at a venue you choose. There is no online casino and no play over the internet.
- Chips and points are symbolic props. They carry no denomination and no value.
- Chips cannot be bought and cannot be topped up during the evening.
- There are no stakes of money or goods, and no cash winnings.
- Nothing - chips, points or results - is exchanged for money, vouchers, goods or prizes of value.
- Admission to the programme is 20+ only.
- You are paying us to organise an evening, not to run a game.
Indicative prices
What an evening costs.
Every amount is for the whole event, not per person. You do not multiply it by the number of guests, and GST is already in the figure. The planning range shows where the total usually lands once a venue and a date are confirmed.

The shape of the evening
This is how your evening runs.
-
1
Arrival and learning the room
Guests are welcomed, handed a prop and shown the activities in small groups, so nobody has to arrive already knowing how anything works.
-
2
Rotation, conversation, music
The open part of the evening: activities running at once, people moving at their own pace, and the photo corner getting used properly.
-
3
Your speeches, in the quiet gap
Everything pauses for fifteen to twenty minutes so the microphone is yours while the room is still in one place and still listening.
-
4
The close
A short finish on the microphone, props collected, and pack-down starting only after your guests have gone.
The room
Warm light. Real detail. Room to talk.
Most of what guests remember is the room they walked into. We light it with LED uplights and warm spots rather than overhead fluorescents, dress the surfaces people actually stand at, and build the photo corner where there is space to use it.
- Light - 6 to 20 LED uplights depending on the format, plus warm spots over the activity points.
- Dressing - runners, lanterns, centrepieces and drape, with measured quantities listed on every format.
- Photo corner - a printed backdrop from 2 x 2 m to 4 x 2.4 m with its own panel lighting.
- Sound - a PA sized to the room, with microphones that work for speeches, not just for music.
Before the day
You bring the occasion. We bring the run sheet.
-
01
Conversation and plan
We check the date, go through the venue conditions and put the package in writing, including what we do not do. You get one coordinator as your single contact from here on.
-
02
Room and programme prepared
Equipment, crew and timings are locked, your artwork goes to print, and we confirm access, power and the set-up window with your venue directly.
-
03
The event, on site
We arrive up to 3 hours early and build the room. Your coordinator runs the timings and holds your run sheet, so you can be a host rather than a producer.
-
04
Pack-down
We start only after your guests have left, and we finish within 1-2 hours. The venue is handed back in the state we found it.

Questions we get asked
Before you ask us.
What is a casino-style evening actually based on?
It is an on-site themed entertainment programme for adults, run at a venue you choose. Croupier-hosts set up roulette, blackjack and poker tables and teach the rules at the table. The chips are symbolic props: they are not sold, they cannot be topped up, they cannot be staked, and they cannot be exchanged for money, vouchers, goods or prizes of value. There are no cash winnings, there is no online casino and no gambling of any kind takes place. Admission to the programme is 20+. What you are paying for is the organisation of an evening, not a game.
How many guests and how many hours does a programme run for?
Our standard packages are built for up to 80 guests and 4 hours of programme. Some formats are designed for smaller groups of up to 40, and a few run for 3 hours - the limit and the duration are listed with every format in the catalogue. Set-up takes up to 3 hours before the event and pack-down up to 1-2 hours after it, and those hours are not part of the programme time.
Where do you run events?
Anywhere in New Zealand. We are based in Queenstown and transport within the country is already included in the price, so a package costs the same whether your venue is down the road from us or on the other island. You provide the venue; we bring the programme, the equipment and the crew.
What is included in the price, and what do we organise ourselves?
Included: the programme, the team and the equipment listed with the format, the planning and run sheet, on-site coordination, transport within New Zealand, set-up and pack-down, and GST. Organised by you: the venue itself with its furniture, power and bathrooms, catering and drinks, accommodation for your guests, any gifts for guests, and a photographer. That split is deliberate - it keeps the quote honest and it means you are free to use the caterer and venue you want.
How is a date confirmed?
Sending an enquiry does not reserve a date. We check whether the date is actually free, talk through the package and your venue conditions, and send you a written quote. The date is only held once that quote is confirmed in writing and the agreement is signed, with a deposit of 20-40% at that point and the balance due 5-10 days before the event.
Can you work with the venue we have already booked?
Usually, yes. Every format lists what the room needs: floor area, power outlets, access for equipment, ceiling height where it matters. Send us the venue name and we will check those requirements against it before you commit to anything. If the room will not take a format, we will say so and suggest one that fits.
